Rose Tattoo

A friend of mine, a dear friend, in that over the years that I knew him he endeared himself to me because of who he was, recently passed away, I’m told that he died peacefully in his bed, not from the cancer that he had been dealing with but probably from a heart condition, anyway I’m just glad that he passed over peacefully.

Glad that he passed peacefully because even though I didn’t know much about his life I do know that parts of it were anything but peaceful.

I didn’t know much about him personally because, simply, we did not talk much about his life but with what little we did talk about left me with the view that he had always struggled in his life, struggled with life, but I must add that he always seemed to live life with good cheer, live with a generous and positive attitude, which is one of the reasons that he endeared himself to me.

Shorty, I knew him by his nickname, real name Jeff Roberts, was a kind, generous and gentleman man.

I first met him as a young lad, a Melbourne boy from the suburbs, a ‘Sharp’, he ran with a gang of likely lads that followed the band that I was singing in at that time, Buster Brown, he was young and full of life and we became acquainted, he was at that time one of many fans, that followed the band, that I got to know.

Over the years that followed I left Melbourne to relocate to Sydney when I got the job to sing for Rose Tattoo but whenever we played in Melbourne Shorty was always there down the front with a handful of the diehards from the Buster days and we’d always catch up for a beer and a chat and that’s how our relationship grew, we went from him being a fan to becoming a friend, we became mates and my affection for him grew.

Shorty was what we call ‘old school’, he was loyal, loving, staunch and true blue and I do not throw these words around carelessly, he had the heart of a Lion and a generosity of spirit that was given freely to all, I’m honoured to call him friend, mate, cobber and I hope he knows that.

European Tourdates 2021

We managed to reschedule most of the postponed European dates of the past run. All tickets remain valid. Only Hengelo/March 18 2020 & Lyon/March 25 2020 couldn’t be rescheduled – tickets for both shows will be refunded.

European Tour dates postponed

We are extremely sorry to announce that as a result of the measures in course of COVID-19 we are forced to postpone all Rose Tattoo European Tour dates from Tuesday, March 17th on. That means the shows in Karlstadt (March 14th) and Malmö (March 15th) are still taking place, but Osnabrück, Hengelo, Uden, Strasbourg, London, Paris, Lyon, Zürich, Ulm and Nuremberg are off. We are devastated, but working on possibilities to come back on a later occasion. Stay healthy and strong in those difficult times!

Australian hard rock legends ROSE TATTOO will release “Outlaws“, a re-recording of the iconic “Rock N Roll Outlaw” LP, on March 6.

In addition to classics like “Nice Boys (Don’t Play Rock ‘N’ Roll)”, “Rock N’ Roll Outlaw”, “One Of The Boys” and “Bad Boy For Love”, which have etched their way into the music landscape over the last 40-plus years, “Outlaws” includes three bonus tracks from the very early days, songs that were demoed and never made the final cut, those being “love song” “Rosetta”, written back in 1975 by Angry Anderson and Ian Rilens, “Snow Queen” and “Sweet Love Rock and Roll”, penned by Ian Rilens. read more…
